Tatiana’s practice explores themes of identity, memory, and the emotional tension between belonging and displacement. Originally from rural Portugal, her move to the UK in 2019 marked a personal and cultural shift that continues to inform her work. Now based in the seaside town of Folkestone, she draws on the tension between rootedness and transition—between home and elsewhere. Drawing from personal experience, she often depicts fragile, dreamlike figures that inhabit surreal, psychologically complex spaces—where tenderness and unease often coexist. Working across painting, collage, and pastel, Tatiana portrays environments that feel both intimate and estranged, reflective of her own sense of place within the lived environment. Whether through layered textures or metaphorical imagery, she explores how various emotional states can shape and distort our sense of “home.”
